Goodbye, hot Texas. Hello, 60-degree California!
If everything is going as scheduled, The Wife and I should be taking off just about now for our weekend in California and our tussle with the San Francisco Marathon and Half-Marathon. This will be our second trip to San Francisco and I’m really looking forward to it. Definitely near the top of my list of American cities to visit. Plus, I intend to track down the the place where I had the world’s most beautiful meatloaf sandwich the last time we were here.
Our plan is to fly from Austin to San Diego, San Diego to San Francisco, check in at the hotel, collect our race stuff and then play it by ear until the race on Sunday. At one point, we were planning on doing a tour of the wine country on Saturday, but in the end we decided we didn’t want to risk tiring ourselves too much the day before the race. I’m sure we’ll find something to keep us entertained.
I understand that there’s now the possibility that a tropical storm could be hitting the Texas/Louisiana coast while we’re gone. Hope that works out for everybody. Honestly, I’m not going to miss being around the craziness that will inevitably erupt if it happens.
I won’t be blogging during our trip (or if history is any indication, for several days afterward as well), but those of you who’d like to follow along can keep track on Twitter – @modernishfather and @nonsoccermom.
Wish us luck. We gonna need it.
