And the mystery theme is…

So… I didn’t quite hang with the “ten straight days” thing. When I wrote that, I forgot that The Wife was going to be gone all of this week at a convention in Rhode Island. My primary focus these past couple of days has been survival – it’s been me against two little people. We’re all still here and I believe most of the house is intact as well. Win.

(By the way, who has a convention in Rhode Island? Research proposal administrators, I guess. Woo hoo. Must have been the biggest thing going on in the state this week.)

Instead of stringing all the mystery posts out over the past week, I’m going to get them all out of the way today. They’ll get published automatically every couple of hours. At least that’s what the robots tell me.

And so, without further ado, the theme of the posts you’ll no doubt be ignored all day will be…

Running

For the three of you who don’t know by now, I’ll be running in the San Francisco Marathon on Sunday. And quite frankly, I’m scared to death.

I’ve finished three official half-marathons before, but I’ve never done a full one. When I signed up for it a couple of months ago, it seemed like a brilliant idea. Today, not so much.

As a way of reminding myself of what I’ve accomplished in the past and hopefully building up a little bit of confidence for this weekend, I’ve put together a brief recap of those first three races. Feel free to enjoy or ignore as you see fit. First one should hit in about an hour or so.

Fries at the bottom of the bag

  • It’s true. Every party does have a pooper.
  • Here’s what all the honor students will be wearing this fall.
  • It’s kind of freaky that two of my friends (who don’t know each other) posted these statuses at almost the same time.
  • Speaking of consecutive things on Facebook, I’ll half to stob people if the English in my friend feed doesn’t improve.
  • We’ve got a new ritual at dinner time. When she’s done with her food, The Girl asks her brother, “You want to do baby wrestling?” and then this ensues.
