New skills, new thrills
We’ve already decided that once The Girl reaches the minimum age of two, we’re going to sign her up for tumbling lessons in January. With her inherent craziness and total lack of fear, we figure she’ll have a lot of fun with it.
We confirmed that again this weekend when The Girl discovered how to do forward rolls all by herself. She’s been close to doing it for several months now, but yesterday she put all the pieces together and started rolling like a little crazy person. She’s accomplished in 19 months something that took her brother six years and a couple of tearful gymnastics lessons to achieve.
As you can see in the video below, for some reason her definition of “roll” also includes spinning around before tucking and rolling. I’m not sure what that’s all about. Maybe it’s her way of powering up or something. It seems to make her dizzy, which adds to the fun no doubt.
Also, I’ve now got a home video of me getting snippy with my oldest child. In my defense, every time I shoot a video using the camera, he’s always like, “Did you get a picture? I didn’t see the flash. You should take a picture. Hey, why aren’t you taking a picture? How come there’s no flash? When are you going to take a picture?”
To quote The Wife – GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve told him at least a hundred times that I’m taking a video and it just never sinks in. So that’s why I was so snippy with him. It’s amazing it hasn’t been caught on tape before. I’m sure it will be again, unless he figures out that when I hold the camera up for several minutes at a time, I’m not just being extremely patient and waiting for the perfect shot. So yeah, it’ll happen again.
Speaking of The Boy, he’s undergoing both a lingual frenectomy and a labial frenectomy today to take care of some issues before his freaky little chiclets fall out and his permanent teeth arrive. He’s a little afraid, but I’m sure he’ll do fine. In fact, once they dope him up with painkillers, I’m sure he’ll be flying like a kite. Or extremely sleepy. Either way, it’ll be all good.

Awesome. And your snippy is not nearly as snippy as my snippy – so I think it’s all good.
