There's got to be a better system so that potential jurors only show up if there's an actual case. I've read that those who actually serve on a jury are far less bitter and annoyed those those like us who just had a few hours wasted for (seemingly) nothing.... However, I find the best way to avoid jury duty is to just not go when requested. That method has worked out pretty well for me. I'm sure the paddy wagon is waiting outside for me right now. Given the lack of actual judicial action, one might argue that I'm still a jury duty virgin. Next time I'll have a little survival kit with a book, some M&Ms and a pair of ear plugs.
