Earning husband points
Sometimes everything just comes together. And that is awesome.
The Wife and I have been wanting to take a vacation for a while now. The last time we went anywhere together (other than a couple quick weekend jaunts to San Antonio and Austin) was way back in 2006 when we spent a couple of days in San Francisco. And now, thanks to my evil genius, we’ll finally be taking another real get-on-a-plane, dump-the-kids-on-someone-else vacation in March.
You see, that’s really the best part of it – we’re leaving on The Wife’s birthday and this little magical mystery tour is her gift. She’ll find out where we’re going when we get to the airport. She will if she’s fully awake, that is. We’ve got an early flight and a long drive to the airport beforehand.
Also good – The Wife’s birthday falls on the first day of a four-day weekend for us at work and the kids are out all week long for their spring break. So we can ship them off to the grandparents and not have to worry about using any of our vacation days. I’m a freakin’ genius.
I’m really excited about this. It should be a really great trip.
In other news
The Boy will have his first basketball game tonight. I’m not expecting much out of a pre-k/kindergarten basketball game. I’m thinking it’ll end up being a 2-0 affair. Maybe 4-0 if one of the teams has a hot shooter.
Also tonight – the Jeopardy! online test. If I do well enough, I’ll earn a chance to take a no-expenses paid trip to America’s garden spot – Kansas City – for round two and certain elimination.

You have indeed earned many, many husband points with this one. Assuming, that is, that you haven’t booked us a trip to Boise.
You are indeed a genius. What a great surprise!!!
That’s awesome.
That is awesome, husband points a plenty. you might have to pack her stuff (extra husband points) so that she has weather appropriate stuff to wherever she’s going..
I think that’d be the hardest part. I can barely pack myself, much less someone else!
We are working on our trip right now, woohoo..going somewhere new to both of us!
I do not even want to think about the potential pitfalls of me packing her suitcase.
I’ll give her a general idea of what to pack before we leave, but I’ll leave the details to her.
