Snow Day, Part Deux
Okay, so maybe I was a bit hasty when I said that all of the snow would be gone by noon today. Technically, I was right about the snow that fell this morning – it had all disappeared by lunch time.
What I didn’t count on, however, was us actually getting some more snow this afternoon. And we did. It wasn’t just frozen rain/slush/sleet that Texans like to call snow either. We had actual full-on snowflakes. And quite a few of them at that.
I noticed that it was starting to flurry again around 3:00 or so. I left work early for a dentist’s appointment and as I sat in the chair having my gums poked, prodded and skewered by an inattentive dental hygienist, I noticed that the flurries were turning into something a little more substantial outside. By the time I left the dentist’s office, it was actually snowing.
The kids thought it was great. This was The Girl’s first experience with the white stuff and she thought it was pretty great. At first, she found the whole thing to be a little confusing, but with her mother’s help she eventually started playing in it and decided that it was good.
The Boy, being a Colorado native, dove right into it. At first he wanted to play some sport called “snow soccer” that seemed to have rather arbitrary rules, but then I taught him how to make a good snowball, which meant certain doom for the side of the house.
The Dog didn’t care for the snow at all. In fact, for the remainder of the evening she stayed firmly on the porch. She just leaned the necessary parts out off the edge of the concrete to do her business. Typical spoiled princess.
After frolicking in the snow and no doubt all contracting colds, we headed inside to decorate the Christmas tree. Once again, The Girl was curious as to what exactly was going on, but ultimately decided that it was okay. She did have to give some of the ornaments a careful inspection first though.
It’s supposed to warm up gradually over the next few days and it looks like all of the moisture has moved out of the area, so this is probably out last round of snow for a while. It’s nice to have a little change of pace now and then.

The only snow we got stuck to the roof and the cars, and was melted by this morning. Landon had no interest in being outside in the cold. Ehh, we’ll get snow again in a few years and he’ll probably love it then.
Love the side of the house shot!
y’all got a lot of snow! we didn’t get nearly as much, but had fun looking at it and looking at our house and yard with a sprinkling of it.
I know our nephew loved it!
Looks like the kids loved playing in the snow! I love the pic of The Wife in her Belles sweats! I’m glad I’m not the only one that still wears 12 year old clothes! I love my B’wood baseball sweats!
About 99% of The Wife’s wardrobe at home is stuff from high school or college. She pretty much wears everything until it falls apart.
Hey, only my lazy around-the-house wardrobe is old stuff. Mostly I wear decent clothes to be seen in public! I like to think of it as being economical.
I agree with the wife. No need to spend money on new clothes when the “gently used” items are still good! My entire lounge around the house wardrobe consists of old B’wood trainer/football/baseball shirts.
You send to have an issue with part of your fence.
Wasn’t it GREAT?!?!?!?!?!?! You must be farther North or East than we are – it didn’t stick to the ground for us.
