U.S. mint unveils new Lincoln penny designs

The mint's recent craze with creating "collect 'em all" versions of our old favorites has now hit the penny. They may have missed the mark this time though – the only decent design out of the four (showing the Capitol dome under construction) doesn't even feature Lincoln. The rail-splitter design looks like a gag coin from a Conan O'Brien sketch.

Wow. It's amazing to think they're building a new stadium for this franchise. An actual attendance of 600, even for an afternoon game with a struggling team, is beyond pathetic. Coupled with the horrible attendance for a red-hot Rays team in Tampa, it's clear that Florida just isn't a good market for regular season baseball.
