A most unlaborious day
I don’t know any decent Labor Day jokes, so I’ll refrain from trying to make one up. Just insert whatever you can come up with on your own here.
This wasn’t supposed to be a three-day weekend for The Wife and I, but it became one for me since The Girl’s daycare was closed today. The Boy, however, had to go to school – ha ha, sucks for him.
Having an open weekend for the first time in what seems like forever, we all made a concerted effort to do nothing all weekend long. Other than a trip to the store and a little bit of mowing, I think we succeeded.
Fries at the bottom of the bag
- August is over, so the August 2008 photo gallery is now complete.
- I wonder why ESPN always leads off SportsCenter with a ten minute analysis of the game they finished airing. I obviously just watched the end of the game; I already know what happened. It’s pretty much the rest of the sports world that I would need to be caught up on, no?
- I’m not even going to comment on the A&M game this weekend. In fact, I refuse to acknowledge that it ever happened. As far as I’m concerned, the season starts next weekend.
- Since I was at home anyway with The Girl this morning, I ended up watching a bazillion hours of Hurricane Gustav coverage. I think CNN spent more time reassuring viewers that their own reporters were out of harm’s way than on actually reporting what was going on. That and reassuring me that they were “Hurricane Headquarters”, a designation which I’m sure someone in the ol’ advertising department stayed up all night patting themselves on the back about.
- Watching all that hurricane coverage further reinforced my view that Tony Harris is a moron. It continues to amaze me that someone with absolutely no grasp of any subject in the news and the interviewing skills of a fourth-grade journalist continues to employed in any type of news organization. In case you can’t tell, I really dislike Tony Harris. I feel a follow-up blog post devoted to him may be merited.
- The Boy has become obsessed with golf over the past couple of days. He spent the whole weekend playing golf games online and then told me that he and his friends were playing golf at recess today. He’s a very odd little dude sometimes.
- We bought The Boy a Wii for his birthday. We’ve still got two weeks to go though, and I can hear the box calling to me from its hiding spot in the closet. Can I resist the temptation to bust out and take it for a test spin?

Love the lounging dog in the background!
I’m such a 2%er I’m all “Does that mean they lost?” “Wait, they played a game?”
I want a Wii!
Ahhhh, the joys of trying to cheer for a team coached by Mike Sherman. Those were some long days in Green Bay and looks like they will be even longer in College Station. Here’s to a great football season!
That fourth picture may very well be my favorite ever, of anyone, in the entire history of humankind. She is really freaking cute, if I do say so myself.
I am particularly partial to the last one myself.
