Mucho stuffo
Man, I hate it when I go so long between posts that sooooo much has happened that I can’t possibly write about all of it. And yet, because I went to sleep super early all last week, that’s the boat I find myself in now. I guess I’ll just start typing and see what shakes out.
Where to start? Well, we went down to Lake Jackson to drop off The Boy for one final round of spoiling with his grandparents. Over the past two months, he’s probably spent more time with both sets of grandparents than he has with us. But he still can’t be bothered to come to the phone when I call to check on him, so apparently he’s good with it.
We had a brief scare when my dad was hospitalized on Friday after experiencing some faint spells throughout the week. In the end though, the doctors couldn’t nail anything down as the cause so they released him back into the wild with a nifty little heart monitor that he has to wear for the next month or so. The following day he was back to cleaning guns and playing Wii bowling (but not at the same time), so I think he’s fine.
Speaking of Wii – holy crap! That’s a lot of fun. The Boy introduced me to the wonders of Wii Sports over the weekend and once I got over being beaten at golf by a five-year old (he plays to win), it was pretty awesome. Makes me wish I had disposable income to spend on such things. I’ll just have to make do with my Gamecube and 7 year-old copy of Madden 2002.
The Girl continued doing her usual things. You know – standing, crawling, chewing on her brother’s toys, messing up mom’s laundry, chasing The Cat. All the usual activities.
I’m not sure what The Wife has been up to. She hasn’t lost or destroyed her iPod yet though, so that’s good. She’s becoming increasingly excited about our trip to San Antonio this weekend, but I just hope her jury duty doesn’t screw things up. We’ll be on a pretty tight schedule and had hoped to get away midday on Friday, but I’m sure she’ll be busy dispensing justice
Of course, that’s assuming that I can walk this weekend. Last night I was moving The Girl from her play saucer to her walker and tweaked something in my back. Now I’m applying heat, using aspercreme and popping ibuprofen in a futile attempt to stave off the pain. I also can’t bend down more than about 20°. It’s pretty awesome.
Fries at the bottom of the bag
- We’ve finally reached the crazy hella hot part of summer. Forecast highs for the next week are all north of 100°. Makes me miss Colorado.
- I’m still leading my fantasy baseball league by a wide margin, despite missing several starts by my ace pitchers.
- I don’t care what Brett Favre and the Packers do at this point. Just do something. The OJ trial received less round-the-clock coverage than this junior high drama has. I need to be able to watch a baseball game again without a scrolling update at the bottom telling me what Favre ordered for dinner and how much he tipped the waiter.
- Less than a month until my oldest starts kindergarten. That’s whack.

I too wish I had disposable income for a Wii…although I’m afraid I would never again see the light of day, so i suppose it’s a trade off.
Thanks for posting a picture inside the text for those of us who are being repressed by the man. Much appreciated
And the Wii ROCKS! And my husband’s evil plan of giving me the opportunity to play one has worked, because now of course I want one. But I don’t let him know I feel this way or he would secretly go to the store and SURPRISE me.
oops… I just reread my post. I meant suppressed, not repressed. Ha!
DUDE. I was dismissed from jury duty so now the only thing standing in the way of our relaxing weekend getaway is your back. IT IS ON YOU. Also, don’t you know to lift with your legs? LEGS.
Part of my job when I was in Austin was to instruct patients on how to use those 30-day heart monitors. Glad to hear he’s doing well. I’m hoping to get my hands on a Wii today. We don’t really have any disposable income, but it will be our anniversary/Joe’s birthday gift. You guys are welcome to come play any time!!
I’m glad to hear your dad is ok. Wii’s are great, wait til you try guitar hero, or worse, rock band…then you really will be hooked….My sister found one for us last summer at Target, during the day so no one had noticed them yet – was a late wedding gift to ourselves. I hadn’t played video games since Super Nintendo, but got right back into it. we need to have a wii party (and come up with a better name for it)
I still hold that Mario Kart Wii trumps all. I DOMINATE Coconut Mall. I am very bad at Wii Boxing. Also, my actual tennis lessons really helped me with Wii Tennis. Talk about whack. I basically took Wii lessons.
