Have tooth, will travel
This weekend marked a couple of important milestones for The Girl – namely, getting her first tooth and crawling. With all the next and exciting developments, we didn’t really have time to mess with fireworks or parades or any such holiday activities.
Unfortunately, sleeping through the night in her crib wasn’t on the list of accomplishments, but we’re working on that this week. We did, however, get her to sleep on her own in her high chair. That’s almost as good. I guess if she never gets the whole crib thing down, we can just roll her high chair in her room at night.
Our weekend was kind of an odd mix of busy and not-so-busy. We traveled out to The Wife’s parents’ place in Georgetown and did the usual hanging out thing. The Boy ate some ice cream, was harassed by his sister and made us all proud by showing off his freaky tongue. Then we left The Boy with his grandparents and headed back for our humble estate, where we let The Girl play with her toys and harass The Dog for the remainder of the weekend.
As I mentioned earlier, the first real highlight of the weekend was The Girl’s first tooth popping out on Friday. It’s quite sharp and looks like it might have a next door neighbor within the next week or so.
Now that The Girl has joined the ranks of the toothed, she has to do all the things that the rest of us do – chew her food, brush her tooth regularly and complain about dental examinations.
The other highlight was The Girl figuring out how to crawl on Saturday. She had been so close to crawling for the past two weeks; I was relieved to finally see her put it all together. I can tell that she’s pretty happy about her newfound skill as well. In fact, she’s so adept at getting around that we’ve had to add the playpen to the menagerie of baby accessories in our living room.

I love the robotic like movements that they make when they first start crawling. It makes me want to paint them silver.
Two big accomplishments in one weekend, woohoo!
I love your status “no longer amazed by the fact that it rains everywhere but at his house”, that happens to us all the time. It pours at work, and dry as a bone at home….and yet, the grass always needs to be cut!
