One day, many cards
Today is Father’s Day – a holiday, as you may have surmised from the title of this blog, which I personally enjoy. We never really do much of anything for Father’s Day, but generally everyone gives me a little less guff for 24 hours and that’s enough for me.
Today also happens to be our seventh wedding anniversary. How is it possible that I’ve been married for seven years? It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long.
Since we got married on the second anniversary of our first date, today also marks nine years that The Wife and I have been together, married or otherwise. That’s quite a while. Not significant in geological terms, but still something to be proud of.
How did we spend our anniversary? Adjusting to being the parents of two children again. The Boy is finally back from his sojourn down south and today was our first full day of once again trying to wrangle two kiddos. Fortunately, The Boy picked things up right where he left off (albeit with a new Sinead O’Connor haircut), so it wasn’t too much of an adjustment.
I tried to explain the concept of our anniversary to The Boy, but he didn’t really seem to grasp it. Or care. Actually, he probably understood perfectly but just didn’t care. He did, however, make me a highly informative Father’s Day card which kept me apprised of The Dog’s current status. And The Girl celebrated both of the day’s momentous events the only way she knew how. As you can tell, it was pretty much just one big continuous party around here today.
We did venture out to do some grocery shopping. Before we hit the ol’ reliable H-E-B, we stopped by an Albertson’s that’s going out of business and having a total liquidation sale. 10-70% off everything. Too bad it was all crap. We did end up buying a whole bunch of greeting cards though, so chances are if you receive a birthday/anniversary/sympathy/bar mitzvah card from us in the next 2-3 years, you can have the additional satisfaction of knowing that it was probably purchased at a significantly discounted price.
Fries at the bottom of the bag
- The Girl has discovered how to scoot around on the floor by pushing herself backwards with her arms. Can crawling be far away?
- She also likes to tear up magazines and eat them. Well, she likes to eat everything.
- Well, everything except “solid” food.

Love the Father’s Day card from The Boy. That’s one you’ll cherish always. The picture of The Wife eating her feet is most impressive and adorable. Just one question–who’s the kid getting married to your wife?
Congrats on 7 and 9 years. It’s quite a feat these days. Here’s to many more.
Cute wedding picture–The Wife looks the same, but who is that guy she is next to?? Loved the picture of The Girl chomping on her toes.
I can’t believe it’s been 7/9 years. It seems like yesterday and a hundred years ago. Same for you, I imagine…
