Catching up
Hmm, I guess it’s been a while since I posted something. I haven’t really been making a conscious effort to not post; time has just been slipping away from me in the evenings.
You know – get The Girl bathed, fed and in bed, take The Dog for a walk, fixed dinner, eat dinner, clean up after dinner, watch a few minutes of TV, poke around online and the next thing you know – bang, it’s midnight. I just need more hours in the day.
It’s helped a little bit that The Boy went down to Lake Jackson last weekend to kick off two weeks of time with both sets of grandparents. I know he’ll have a good time down there and it’s helping us save on daycare costs, but I miss our nightly sessions of Nintendo after dinner.
Before he left town, The Boy claimed his very first trophy at his tee-ball team’s end-of-season party. He’s extremely proud of it and wanted to take it with him on his trip, but we were able to convince him that it would be safer if he kept it at home instead. He’s also quite sure that the figure on top of the trophy isn’t just some generic batter, it’s an actual representation of him personally. That’s quite a trophy then!
The Girl’s teething-related sleeping issues seem to have gotten a little better, but it’s still kind of touch and go. She’s become pretty grabby and generally everything she can get her hands on ends up getting chewed on. We tried introducing her to “solid food” (rice cereal – really just a thick liquid), but she didn’t care for it. I can’t say that I blame her; that stuff looks pretty gross.
On Monday night, I took advantage of one last chance to go to an A&M baseball game this year and headed out to watch the deciding game of the NCAA Regional at Olsen Field. It was pretty freaking warm when the game started, but it cooled off quickly and turned into a great night for a game. The game itself was decided early on when A&M started things off with a homer and then busted it wide open with seven more runs in the second inning. Hope they can keep those bats hot this weekend against Rice in the Super Regionals.
Going through old photos
Actually, most of my time in the evenings recently has been spent going through a lot of our older photos and archiving them online. I had a burst of productivity, so there’s a lot of new stuff for you to look at if you want, especially from 2001 and 2003-2005:
- First things first: the May 2008 photos are complete and the photos from the A&M-Houston game are available as well
- Last Wednesday: I uploaded 273 photos, mostly from 2001-2003. Highlights include The Boy’s first trip to the beach, the 2003 St. Patrick’s Day Blizzard, and The Boy’s second Halloween.
- Last Friday: I uploaded another 398 photos, mostly from 2003-2004. Highlights include: another Halloween and our very first tiny apartment.
- Monday: I uploaded another 114 photos, mostly from 2004. Highlights include: Sesame Street Live, horseshoes and a surgery.
- Last night: I uploaded 378 photos, mostly from 2004 and 2005. Highlights include: The Boy’s third birthday, wild moves on the dance floor, a summer full of weddings, and lots of pictures from our trip to Chicago.
I haven’t done the exact math, but that’s like a billion photos for you to check out. Maybe it’ll keep you busy until the next time I post.

I believe the Boy played baseball. At least that’s what he said when he corrected me when I asked how he liked playing tee-ball. “It’s BASEBALL!!!”
