I had high hopes of recapping our weekend tonight, but I suddenly find myself very tired. And our weekend wasn’t terribly interesting.
The highlight of the weekend (I guess) was taking our annual family photos. This is the first time we’ve had to do it with two kids and it kind of like herding cats. The Girl was more interested in her feet and the props than the camera to be honest. When she happened to randomly look at the camera, The Boy was of course picking his nose or staring at the ceiling.

Last month, I wrote about taking The Girl to participate in a language development study up on campus and today we were back in the Psychology Building again - actually just a few doors down the hall - to donate our baby girl’s brain waves to science.
Today’s adventure had to do with the Infant Cognition Lab, where they study object cognition in youngsters between six and eighteen months of age. And just like last time, it involved goofy headwear for The Girl.

At our house, either we’re all fine or we’re all having some kind of medical issue at the same time. And those issues are usually totally unrelated.
A couple of weeks ago, The Wife, The Boy and The Girl were all battling something or other - pink eye, an ear infection and some kind of viral infection. This week, it’s my turn to feel bad and The Boy has joined me on the roster of the walking wounded with a mystery rash. Plus, The Girl had her six month check-up and vaccinations already on the schedule.

On the surface, George Costanza and I would appear to have a few things in common - namely we’re both shortish, rotund balding men who like to jam as much crap as possible in their wallets and think that it’s not unreasonable for stores to provide their security guards with a comfortable place to sit. It’s also possible that we’re both slightly neurotic.
But now the fictional Mr. Costanza and I have something else in common - we’re both former professional hand models.

Sleep is starting to become a rare and valuable commodity in our household. For whatever reason, The Girl has decided that sleeping through the night is for losers.
Is it teething? Is it a growth spurt? Is it a developmental leap? Is it just plain stubbornness? I don’t know and, quite honestly, I don’t care at this point. I’d just like to get more than three hours of sleep at a time.
